Have you ever felt a pushchair attachment shift mid-walk and wondered whether it had actually locked? Small problems, such as misaligned connectors, worn latches, or trapped debris, can prevent a connector from fully engaging, so a reassuring click does not always mean the attachment is secure.

 

Carry out three quick checks before you set off: inspect alignment and the frame for bends or damage, engage the locking mechanism and listen for a clear click, then check for wobble, play, and overall stability. Look for bent or cracked parts, confirm the lock snaps fully into place, and try the handlebars and wheels for any excess movement.

If you see more than a few millimetres of movement, hear knocks, or feel a catching sensation, the attachment has not engaged fully. Simulate a child’s weight safely by placing a loaded shopping bag or a weighted cushion in the seat. Roll the pushchair over a few small bumps and apply the brake to check whether the attachment stays flush and the locks remain engaged. Push the pushchair along level pavement, a gentle slope, and a slightly uneven surface to reveal any looseness that appears only in motion. Watch for excessive play, steering drift, handle wobble, or new loose noises, and if any appear, stop and recheck all attachment points, tightening or refitting them before use.
