Can I boost my child's social interaction by going on regular trike rides?

My toddler is awkwardly shy and reserved in the presence of other children. He usually doesn't interact much when we go on play dates with other moms. A mom in my mom group suggested that we get a baby trike to help him become more social. I want to give it a shot, but I'm unsure if it's right for him.
