Can a stroller trike be used without adult supervision?

We have a pretty large backyard and sometimes when I am busy doing yard work my baby often sits in the stroller and watches me or naps. But now that he has gotten older I realize he wants to be a bit more active. I want to get a stroller trike for other reasons but I'd like to know if my baby can ride his stroller trike while he is in the yard with me? I do not have my eyes on him at all times in the yard which is fine when he is just sleeping.
