My baby is eleven months old and has shown unusual curiosity for her age. She frequently picks up and drops her toys, and I'm afraid she's bored with indoor play. My coworker suggested we get her a trike and go on regular bike rides. Is a trike ideal for her to explore more independently and improve her motor skills?

Even just learning to ride a tricycle can be a tremendously confidence-boosting experience. The outdoors also offers lots of exploration opportunities that benefit children's motor and speech development as well as their curiosity and confidence. Also, when children's interest is stimulated and we give them control over the activity, they may explore on their own and learn without being taught.
